October 24 MOVIE REVIEW: "AMELIA" Growing up, many times I would look up into the sky and wonder to myself, "Whatever happened to Amelia Earhart when she vanished over the Pacific Ocean flying her twin engine propeller aircraft on July 2, 1937?" There have been rumors, stories, and more rumors as to what happened on that fateful day. She wanted to fly around the world. It was unheard of in her day. She first flew nonstop across the Atlantic repeating the historic flight of Charles Lindberg. One thing is certain. Amelia did inspire not only women but plenty of men to climb into a cockpit and take to the air. Hillary Swank makes the perfect version of Amelia Earhart. I almost thought I was looking at the real thing! Amelia led a very private life with an intense passion for flying. Richard Gere gives a fine performance as her husband and business manager G.P. Putnam. For all you history buffs, aviation buffs, and anyone interested in learning about one woman's desire to take to the air and just get away from it all,I highly recommend this film. To this day,the question still remains,"What really happened to Amelia Earhart?" It could become the question that is never answered! I rate this movie a solid 4 stars **** Running time is 111 minutes and rated PG (for language and sensuality) Comments (2)
