September 03 REFLECTIONSOK! Sometimes your mind wanders and you think about a lot of stuff. This blog is about some of the stuff I think about. For instance, there are DVD recorders on the market with no tuners in them. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of recording? How can you record your favorite TV show if you cannot connect an antenna to the darn thing? The sales people just say all you have to do is connect a cable box or satellite box to record TV. But wait a minute, not everyone is connected to cable or a satellite service. They are left out in the cold. You could connect an old VCR to the auxiliary input of the DVD recorder and feed the TV channels that way. But this would be a waste. If you are going to do this, you might as well record on the VCR and forget the DVD recorder. And since all the old VCR's are analog, you would still have to connect a digital converter box to the VCR. Yikes! Another nightmare! Doesn't this sounds like technology gone amuck! It also sounds like a big conspiracy to me! From the "Useless Invention" department comes this item that should never reach the sales floor: It is a rewinder for DVD players. When connected to a DVD player,it will automatically rewind the DVD disc so it will be ready to play from the beginning any time you put the disc into the player. There is only one thing wrong with this invention. All DVD players have that function built into them. There is no need for an external rewinder! I wonder if the inventor of this device had any thing to do with the DVD recorder with no tuner that I discussed in the first paragraph? I wouldn't doubt it! So there you have it. This is just some of the stuff that goes through my mind late at night when I'm trying to get some sleep. It is the type of stuff that glides, and slides, and goes under the door, and all around the room. Then it settles over my head and hollers at me to put it in a blog. And this is what I did. Now you have some stuff to think about! Have a nice day!!! Comments (2)
